Request to Perform at MSC 2025

Disclaimer and Waiver of Liability

By participating in this event, I acknowledge and voluntarily assume all risks associated with activities such as dance training, including but not limited to physical injury, illness, or emotional distress, whether or not caused by negligence.

I understand the importance of consulting a physician before engaging in physical activities and agree to adhere to all instructions provided by the Canadian Salsa Dance Corporation (CSDC) and its instructors.

In consideration of my participation, I hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless the CSDC, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents from any and all liability, claims, demands, or actions arising out of or related to my participation in this event.

Furthermore, I agree to indemnify and defend the CSDC and its representatives against any claims, damages, or costs resulting from my participation.

By purchasing a ticket or engaging in event activities, I affirm that I have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions freely and voluntarily.


Perform at Our Event: Application Details

Want to showcase your team at our event? Follow the steps below to submit your performance request.

Important Note:

  • Only team performances are currently being accepted. Solo slots are filled.
  • Minimum Team Size: Each team must include at least four unique dancers.
  • Submission does not guarantee approval to perform.
  • Approved dancers must purchase their performer pass using a special code provided upon acceptance.
  • Once approved, you will be required to sign an agreement with the Montreal Salsa Convention.

Steps to Apply:

Step 1:

Complete the team application form below by January 31st, 2025. Include:

  • Team/Company/School Name
  • City
  • Number of Performers

Step 2:

Within two weeks of submitting your application, event organizers will notify you via email if your request has been accepted.

Step 3:

Upon approval:

  • You will receive a document to provide a list of each performer’s full name and email. Submit this to info@montrealsalsaconvention.com.
  • You will also be required to sign an agreement with the Montreal Salsa Convention.

Step 4:

Each approved dancer must purchase their performer pass online using the special code provided in your approval email.

Step 5:

  • Submit your rehearsal or performance video by March 15th, 2025.
  • Submit your performance music by March 30th, 2025.

Important Deadlines for Performers

Save Money on Passes:

  • January 15th: Performer/Competitor pass prices increase. Purchase early to save.
  • Prices will go up every 15 days.

Key Submission Deadlines:

  • March 30th: Submit a video of a rehearsal or performance for each confirmed show.
  • April 15th: Upload music for all performances.

Performer Pass & Registration:

  • April 15th:
    • All performers and competitors must purchase their passes online by midnight.
    • Ensure your team’s performance spot is reserved by completing registration by this date.
    • The MSC registration team will verify performer names and add them to the database.

Hotel Booking:

  • April 20th: Early Bird hotel pricing ends. Book your room early via the link on the venue page or call directly. Mention the congress and use the provided code for discounted rates.

Final Registration Deadline:

  • May 1st:
    • Performer registration closes.
    • Any performer who has not purchased their pass by this date must buy a full attendee pass—no exceptions.

Performer Registration Information

Purchasing Your Performer Pass

  • All performers must purchase a Performer Pass online in advance.
  • To purchase, click on "Tickets" from anywhere on the MSC website.
  • Performer Passes are available at a discounted rate exclusively for team members performing at the 20th Montreal Salsa Convention.
  • Performers will need a code to access this pass.

Important Policies

  • No Refunds: Performer Passes are non-refundable.
    • If you are unable to perform but will still attend the convention, you may transfer the value of your Performer Pass toward the purchase of an attendee pass (at current rates).
    • If you wish to transfer your Performer Pass to a team member who has not yet purchased theirs, you may do so before April 15th. After this date, a $50 administrative fee will apply.
  • Wristbands:
    • All performers will receive a wristband at the event.
    • Wristbands must be worn at all times, including while on stage.
    • Lost or removed wristbands will need to be replaced at full price—no exceptions.

Picking Up Your Performer Pass

  • Performer Passes can be picked up at the Registration Office located at the event hotel.
  • You must present a valid photo ID to collect your pass.
  • Passes are issued individually—team members cannot pick up passes on behalf of others.

Venue Policies

  • Alcohol:
    • No outside alcohol is permitted at the venue, including any areas of the event space.
    • Convention security will confiscate any alcohol not purchased at the venue bar.
    • Please respect Canadian liquor laws to avoid jeopardizing the venue’s license.

Tech Rehearsal & Call Times

Tech Rehearsal

  • There will be no formal tech rehearsal.
  • The show order will be curated by our Artistic Director in advance.
  • Each day, the performance order will be posted backstage by the Backstage Manager by 4:00 PM.

Stage Dimensions

  • The stage measures approximately 30’ x 24’ (width x depth).

Call Times

Night Shows:

  • First Half Performers:
    • Must be in the stage holding area by 7:45 PM, dressed in full costume and ready to perform.
    • No exceptions will be made.
  • Second Half Performers:
    • Must be in the stage holding area by 8:30 PM, dressed in full costume and ready to perform.
    • No exceptions will be made.

Note: If your group is not present at the designated call time, you will not be permitted to perform.

  • Shows will begin promptly each evening and will run for approximately 2 hours.
  • The backstage area will close 30 minutes after the show ends.

Sunday Afternoon Emerging Artists Show:

  • All performers must be in the stage holding area by 4:00 PM, in full costume, and ready to go.

Please plan ahead and adhere to these timelines to ensure a smooth and professional show!

Video Submission Guidelines

All confirmed performers (national and international teams, couples, and soloists) must submit a video by March 30th, 2025, showcasing each routine they plan to present. This can be a simple recording from a phone and does not need to be perfect. The purpose is to review details such as team size, dance genre, song choice, and performance readiness.

Submission Instructions

  • Name the video file to include your dance company, team name, and genre. Example: San Tropez_Amateur Team_Salsa.
  • Submit your videos no later than March 30th to ensure timely review.

Music Submission Guidelines

To ensure smooth performances and competition showcase divisions, all music must be submitted in advance. Please follow the instructions below to complete your submission:

Submission Details

  • Deadline: Sunday, April 15th
  • Team Identification: Include the exact team’s name as listed on our Performance Schedule (available on the Schedule Page). For example: San_Tropez_Amateur_Salsa_Team.
  • If your school or company has multiple teams performing, ensure accuracy to avoid confusion.
  • For couple performances, include the first and last names of both dancers.

File Naming Guidelines

Proper file naming ensures efficient organization for the DJ. Please name your files in the following format:

{GroupName}{TeamName}{Genre}_{Show}

Examples for Performances:

  • SanTropez_AmateurTeam_Salsa_Show

File Format Requirements

  • Accepted Formats: MP3 (preferred bitrate: 320; minimum: 220), WAV, or Mac AIFF.
  • File Quality: Submit high-quality files only. Avoid using music downloaded from YouTube or other low-quality sources.
